When Chris and I were picking strawberries at the farm, it was a super warm day and a strawberry lemonade sounded amazing! When I went to the counter, I was hoping it’d have fresh strawberries since we were on the farm, but instead it was a processed strawberry syrup🤡 I say this as genuine as possible and trying to not sound like a snob, I promise! When I told Chris, this was his response: “Assuming people would do something the same way as you will always lead you to disappointment…but I bet you could do it better.” So here’s how I made it: – Four strawberries, steamed and halved – 2 ounces of gin or vodka – Four basil leaves - pinch of salt – 2 ounces of honey – Juice of one lemon Muddle together the strawberries, salt, gin, and basil. The salt will help break down the strawberries but totally optional. Strain and add to an empty cocktail shaker. Add the honey and shake and strain again into a glass filled with ice. Squeeze the lemon juice on top and garnish with a strawberry and basil leaf. If you want yours a little lighter, you could also add a splash of sparkling water for some refreshing bubbles!
